Most expect the Boston Celtics to trade point guard Rajon Rondo and the Sacramento Kings still could make a play for him before the NBA‘s trade deadline

Although both Rajon Rondo and the Boston Celtics have denied that Rondo has asked for a trade, it seems inevitable that they will trade him at some point this season.
The Sacramento Kings are believed to have great interest in acquiring Rondo but reports have indicated he would not sign with the Kings long-term.
Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders believes Rondo will be traded and thinks he could still wind up with the Kings.
“It’s hard to say where he’ll land this early in the season, but I think the Kings are possibility,” writes Kennedy. “Pete D’Alessandro has been super aggressive since taking over as GM of the Kings and they’ve been linked to Rondo before. I think they like the idea of a Rondo, Rudy Gay, DeMarcus Cousins trio. The question is, would Rondo re-sign with Sacramento after the season? If not, that may not Sacramento out of the sweepstakes since it’s unlikely they give up significant pieces to have Rondo as a rental.”
Obviously, the Kings would be taking a big risk by dealing for Rondo without the assurance that he would re-sign. Plus Rudy Gay is also a free agent after the season so they could up forming their own big three only to lose two of them just a few months later.
Last season, Rajon Rondo averaged 11.7 points, 9.8 assists, 5.5 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 40.3% from the field, 28.9% from beyond the arc and 62.7% from the free throw line. Rajon Rondo has averaged 11.1 points, 8.4 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game while shooting 47.5% from the floor, 25.2% from three and 62.1% from the free throw line in his eight-year NBA career.
