At halftime of the game, the Steelers will bring out Pro Football Hall of Famer “Mean” Joe Greene for a ceremony.
During the ceremony, Pittsburgh will be retiring the No. 75 jersey worn by Greene.
It will be just the second time in franchise history to have his jersey number retired. Ernie Stautner (No. 70) was previously the only other Steelers player to have his number retired by the team.
When speaking of the ceremony, Greene said that he expects “emotions to be riding high,” according to Rob Rossi of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
“I didn’t play at Heinz Field, but I don’t know if I could consider the difference being out there from Three Rivers (Stadium),” Greene said. “It’ll still be Pittsburgh, and that’s special. I hope, through the Steelers, and the fans, and my family, I can accept it well.”
Greene will be joined by 18 family members for the big moment.
