The San Francisco Giants and Kansas City Royals have the attention of the baseball world as they prepare for Game 7 of the World Series on Wednesday night. One of the intriguing issues of this game is how each team will use their respective, stellar bullpens.
For the Giants, they have an especially dangerous weapon as a relief pitcher. That would be Madison Bumgarner, he who has already won two games of this series in dominant fashion as the starting pitcher.
Giants’ manager Bruce Bochy has indicated that Bumgarner will be available out of the bullpen, and he shed some additional light on that option in advance of Game 7 on Wednesday.
From Andrew Baggarly:
Depending on efficiency and effectiveness, that puts Bumgarner right in the two-three inning range that most people were expecting for Bumgarner’s availability. But if he’s rolling, and if the Giants need him to, could he stretch to get them four innings? I bet he could, and if he’s pitching like he has been so far in this series, that will spell big trouble for the Royals.
Bumgarner’s usage ranks as one of the top stories as the World Series is decided in what should be an exciting Game 7 at Kauffman Stadium.
