College Football Results Against The Spread Week 9

At first glance, I think I had a decent week against the spread. That said, it really can’t get any worse.

Connecticut at East Carolina(-27.5): HIT! ECU has the offense to put up points, but their defense has been less than stellar.

Miami(FL)(-2.5) at Virginia Tech: HIT! Don’t be surprised if the Hurricanes win out. Yes, I know they still have to play Florida State.

South Florida at Cincinnati(-10.5): HIT! The Bearcats are kind of the forgotten team in the AAC.

Troy at South Alabama(-13.5): HIT! Just barely got this one!

BYU at Boise State(-6.5): HIT! The Cougars have had way too many injuries on both sides of the ball to stay afloat this year.

Oregon(-18.5) at California: MISS! I was .5 away from start the week six for six!

UAB at Arkansas(-26.5): HIT! Arkansas needed this.

Memphis(-23.5) at SMU: HIT! Hey, at least SMU hit double digits for the second time this year!

Texas at Kansas State(-10.5): HIT! The Horns were shut out for the first time in ten years!

North Carolina at Virginia(-6.5): HIT! Holding the Tarheel offense to 28 points was a pretty impressive showing though.

Minnesota(-5.5) at Illinois: MISS! The gap between the middle and bottom of the Big Ten(14) is almost non-existant right now.

Maryland at Wisconsin(-10.5): MISS! Where did that come from? Stave has the Badgers playing like they want to win the Big Ten West right now.

Rutgers at Nebraska(-19.5): MISS! The garbage TD in the fourth by Rutgers hurt.

North Texas at Rice(-13.5): MISS! Rice finally gets some offense in this one!

Northern Illinois(-20.5) at Eastern Michigan: MISS! NIU couldn’t blow out a team that UMass did. That’s a bad thing.

San Jose State at Navy(-9.5): HIT! The half was kind to me here.

Ohio at Western Michigan(-10.5): MISS! So much for Ohio with confidence…..

Massachusetts at Toledo(-17.5): HIT! Don’t bet against the Minutemen offense right now!

Akron(-1.5) at Ball State: MISS! The Zips are still finding ways to burn me….

Georgia Southern(-17.5) at Georgia State: MISS! I knew better…..

UCLA(-13.5) at Colorado: MISS! I keep underestimating just how bad the UCLA defense has been at times.

Kent State at Miami(OH)(-6.5): HIT! The quarter never fails!

Georgia Tech at Pittsburgh(-3.5): HIT! I finally got a lock this week!

Central Michigan(-5.5) at Buffalo: HIT! Another half in my favor! I could get used to this!

Oregon State at Stanford(-13.5): MISS! I knew better here too.

West Virginia at Oklahoma State(EVEN): MISS! So much for a hangover….

Texas Tech at TCU(-23.5): HIT! I picked a rout, but I didn’t see the Frogs racking up 82!

Boston College(-13.5) at Wake Forest:MISS! Ugh.

Florida Atlantic at Marshall(-28.5): HIT! FAU is much better than they were last year.

Louisiana Tech(-9.5) at Southern Mississippi: HIT! Lesson learned!

Michigan at Michigan State(-17.5): MISS! This is the Sparty defense that we have been looking for for the last month.

Mississippi State(-14.5) at Kentucky: MISS! The half got me here.

Vanderbilt at Missouri(-23.5): HIT! Easy money, people. The Tigers’ offense is a mess right now.

Old Dominion at Western Kentucky(-13.5): HIT! High scoring was right. These two combined for 117 points!

UNLV at Utah State(-17.5): MISS! Well, at least I missed it by more than the half, I guess…..

Temple at Central Florida(-7.5): MISS! The Owls have hit a rough patch lately.

Arizona(-2.5) at Washington State: HIT! The Cougar defense is enough to make the fans cry.

Wyoming at Colorado State(-19.5): MISS! Mediocre team fails to cover large spread. A continuing trend, and I never seem to learn….

UTEP at UTSA(-12.5): MISS! This wasn’t a lapse, it was a total meltdown.

Syracuse at Clemson(-14.5): MISS! Great defense by Syracuse in this one.

Texas State at Louisiana-Monroe(-2.5): MISS! I really had no idea on this one anyway.

Mississippi(-3.5) at LSU: MISS! Where dreams go to die is right.

South Carolina at Auburn(-18.5): HIT! I didn’t necessarily expect it to be as close as it was, but 19 was too high.

Alabama(-18.5) at Tennessee: MISS! It started off good for the Tide.

Ohio State(-13.5) at Penn State: MISS! I didn’t see that one coming.

USC at Utah(EVEN): HIT! USC lost on yet another TD with less than ten seconds left.

Arizona State(-3.5) at Washington: HIT! The Sun Devils still had a productive game through the air with the winds swirling at Husky Stadium.

Nevada(-3.5) at Hawaii: HIT! Fajardo was too much for Hawaii.

After a great start to the week, I ended up going 24-24. Not what I was hoping for, but at least I didn’t lose any more ground! That puts me at 191-248 on the year. I still have a lot of work to do.
