DeMarco Murray leads the NFL in rushing by almost 300 yards this season with 1,054 yards this year leading second place Arian Foster who has 766 rushing yards. Murray had 520 rushing yards in October and 534 rushing yards in September and has gained between 100 and 167 rushing yards in every game this year.
DeMarco Murray is on pace to break Eric Dickerson’s single-season record of 2,105 rushing yards that was set in 1984 when he was with the Los Angeles Rams. It will definitely be close, but Murray is on pace barely.
The only two other running backs to win back-to-back NFC offensive player of the month awards were Barry Sanders in 1997 and Emmitt Smith in 1992. This could be a foreshadowing of what the rest of DeMarco Murray’s career could be.
DeMarco Murray has led a surging Dallas Cowboys squad this year to a 6-2 record halfway through the season after a tough loss to the Washington Redskins Monday. The Cowboys take on the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday in another tough NFC match up. The Cardinals are 6-1 and rank third in rush defense, making for a tough match up for Dallas.
