In the wake of all of the problems in the world of sports with domestic violence, specifically the cases with
‘ running back Ray Rice and
‘ running back Adrian Peterson in the NFL, every professional sports league will likely crack down on offenders.
That includes Charlotte Hornets’ swingman Jeff Taylor. He was arrested on three charges, which included a charge of domestic violence on his girlfriend, a student at Michigan State. He was also brought in for destruction of property and assault on Marriot Hotel employee. He has since been suspended from all team activities.
According Tim Gillette and Lorne Fultonberg of WILX.com, Jeff Taylor could face 93 days in jail and a $500 fine.
"The prosecutor told Judge Andrea Larkin they would not object to her allowing Jeff Taylor to participate in a probation diversion program, which could lead to the domestic assault charge being removed from his legal record. In court the 25-year-old Taylor said that he pushed his girlfriend into the wall at the Marriot Hotel in East Lansing, and the hotel room wall was damaged. Police were called to the hotel at about 1 o’clock in the morning on September 25th and arrested Taylor."
This is clearly a very serious matter – well, three very serious matters actually. Hopefully, Jeff Taylor can get his life in order and make sure his anger never puts him in a situation like this ever again.
