A day after falling to the
105-101, the Minnesota Timberwolves will host the
in their home opener at the Target Center.
It will be the second regular season game for the No. 1 overall pick of the 2014 NBA Draft, swingman Andrew Wiggins. Although he had a quiet first game, Andrew Wiggins is already drawing a lot of praise for the way he has handled himself so far in Minnesota.
“One thing a lot of people don’t know is he moved his entire family up here, his younger sisters, his mom and dad. They bought a house here in the Twin Cities,” Timberwolves vice president of communications Brad Ruiter told WCCO-TV’s Ali Lucia on WCCO This Morning via CBS Minnesota. “The fact that he moved his entire family up here tells me that he wants to put some roots down here.”
Ruiter wouldn’t say any names but it sure sounded like he took a shot at Kevin Love, who was dealt to the Cleveland Cavaliers this summer, when comparing Wiggins to former players.
“We won’t name any names, but some other people maybe haven’t done that in the past,” Ruiter said about making a commitment to be in Minnesota. “We’re really excited that he (Wiggins) wants to be not only a member of the organization but part of the community as well.”
It’s only natural for Timberwolves fans to be bitter. Look at how much Cavs’ fans hated LeBron James before he returned or the way Orlando Magic (and Los Angeles Lakers) fans still have no love for Dwight Howard so if he did take a shot at Love, it’s no surprise at all.
Love’s Cavs will open their season against the New York Knicks Thursday night.
