The big story of the summer was NBA superstar LeBron James decision to leave the Miami Heat during free agency and return to the Cleveland Cavaliers, the team that drafted and his home town team. Before LeBron James left the Cavaliers, the ads surrounding James in his home town were some of the best in the league.
It just made for a great story line, the hometown kid leading the hometown team and inspiring a city.
Of course, he left and became a villain for a while. Now that he has returned those story lines are back, and Nike is back to making some remarkable ads about them.
This one is black and white and starts with LeBron James leading his team in a huddle, talking about how the team has to work hard and play together for Cleveland and the people of the city.
Then the crowd begins to join in the team huddle making it grow even larger.
As the ad continues it shows fans in the mezzanine of the arena, outside the arena, and throughout the city huddling along with the Cavaliers repeating “together” and “hard work” in an inspiring ad. It reminds me of the ad where fans were throwing chalk in the air all over the city.
