St. Louis Rams vs. San Francisco 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers will host the St. Louis Rams in an NFC West battle on Sunday in Levi’s Stadium. The 49ers (4-3) enter this one looking to stay above .500 and remain in a good position to make a run at the postseason. At 2-5, the Rams desperately need a win if they have any shot of salvaging this season.

Keys to Victory

The 49ers need to exploit St. Louis’ weak rush defense (31st in rushing yards per game this season) in this one. Quarterback Colin Kaepernick just needs to manage the game and let Frank Gore and Carlos Hyde do the damage offensively.   On the other side of the ball, the Niners need to focus on pressuring Rams quarterback Austin Davis and forcing him into mistakes.

For the Rams, they’ll need to control time of possession by running the ball with Tre Mason, Benny Cunningham and Zac Stacy while playing stout defense in order to come away with the win. The 49ers have across-the-board talent advantages over the Rams, so St. Louis must avoid turnovers and force the 49ers into making a few.

Betting Odds

Point Spread: 49ers (-10)

Moneyline: SF: -515, STL: +420

O/U: 43.5

Prediction

The 49ers should be able to earn their fifth win of the season fairly easily. The Rams simply don’t have the offensive firepower or the defensive talent to win this Sunday.
