Week 9 shapes up to be a challenging one for fantasy football owners with six teams on a bye many with multiple fantasy-relevant options. The last thing owners need is players dealing with injuries in a week with rosters already stretched extremely thin. However, there are always fantasy injuries to watch heading into the weekend. Here are all the players dealing with injuries heading into week 9 and the latest update on them after Thursday’s practice.
Running Back
Arian Foster-Houston Texans: Foster has been limited in practice but should be ready for a full workload against the Eagles on Sunday. He’s a truly elite RB1 when healthy, and he should be in time for Sunday.
Giovani Bernard-Cincinnati Bengals: Bernard has missed the last two days of practice after sustaining a hip injury on Sunday. It’s unclear if he’ll return on Sunday or miss a week, but the issue isn’t expected to be a long-term one. Check his week 9 status on Sunday and see if he practices at all today.
Andre Ellington-Arizona Cardinals: Ellington has been limited this week as he has been every week in practice, but he should be good to go in a nice matchup against the Cowboys on Sunday.
Rashad Jennings-New York Giants: Jennings has been ruled out for Monday Night Football but is still hoping to return for week 10.
Trent Richardson-Indianapolis Colts: T-Rich should be back and a full go this week against the Giants. He’s not even listed on the injury report.
Darren Sproles-Philadelphia Eagles: Sproles is back in full practices and should be ready to go for Sunday as a boom or bust flex or RB3 play.
Doug Martin-Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Martin was out of his walking boot on Thursday but still not practicing. He’s still a rough play for Sunday since he’s losing time to Bobby Rainey and possible Charles Sims, but it’s a good sign for his owners that he’s progressing in his return.
Charles Sims-Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Sims is expected to have a significant role in the Bucs offense when he returns, but Coach Lovie Smith has yet to commit to him being ready to return from the IR this week. He has serious upside as a RB stash, but don’t start him this week.
Tony Romo-Dallas Cowboys: The biggest injury “unknown” of the week is Romo who will be a gametime decision on Sunday against Arizona. Given his history, I’d be surprised if he doesn’t try and play, but check on him Sunday to see what the final word is.
Robert Griffin III-Washington Redskins: Barring any setbacks, RG3 looks ready to resume his role as the Redskins starter this Sunday in Minnesota. He’s a QB2 with real upside if he can show that he’s healthy and ready to produce in Jay Gruden’s offense.
A.J. Green-Cincinnati Bengals: Green has been limited this week, but he’s been practicing which is a good sign for his long-suffering owners. Green is looking like a gametime decision for Sunday and seems likely to return.
Michael Floyd-Arizona Cardinals: Floyd injured his knee last week against the Eagles, but he continued to play (even though he failed to make a catch) and should be able to go this week against the Cowboys in Dallas.
Reggie Wayne-Indianapolis Colts: Wayne’s status for Monday Night Football is extremely unclear especially with the Colts heading onto their bye week week 10. Wayne hasn’t practiced yet this week, but he’s expected to return to practice Friday and could easily still give it a go on Monday.
Jordan Cameron-Cleveland Browns: Cameron is still out of practice after a concussion last week and will most likely miss Sunday’s game. Cleveland plays the Thursday night game week 10, and his status for that game is looking more grim as the days pass.
Owen Daniels-Baltimore Ravens: Daniels turned in a limited practice Wednesday, but he missed Thursday’s practice. It looks like a long shot that he’ll play on Sunday, and even if he does there are probably better available options.
