First reported by CBS DFW in Dallas, Kenny Hill has been benched by the Aggies and freshman Kyle Allen will start on Saturday afternoon against Louisiana-Monroe at Kyle Field.
Hill has turned the ball over far too much for head coach Kevin Sumlin’s liking, and the 59-0 loss to Alabama left a sour taste in the Aggies’ mouth, so a change had to be made.
Reports indicate the freshman was able to outplay Kenny Hill in practice on his way to earning the starting job. With the way that Hill has played in recent weeks after his hot start to the 2014 season, it comes as no surprise that he is now on the bench.
It is unfortunate for Hill, who burst onto the scene this season and seemed to give the Aggies a capable quarterback who could replace Johnny Manziel without missing a beat, but that belief was quickly tossed aside.
Allen is 23-for-38 for 264 yards and three touchdowns this season.
