Minnesota Twins Considering Rick Renteria As Manager
By Josh Hill
The Chicago Cubs needed to do an ugly thing in firing Rick Renteria to hire Joe Maddon but the former Cubs skipper may land on his feet with the Minnesota Twins.
RIck Renteria was fired on Friday afternoon following the Cubs reaching an agreement with Joe Maddon to become their new manager. But before you go crying a river for the fired Renteria, he may end up finding work sooner rather than later.

The only open managerial position in baseball when Joe Maddon opted out of his contract in Tampa Bay remains open and that may be a fit for Renteria. According to Bob Nightengale from USA Today, the Minnesota Twins are considering bringing gin Renteria for an interview now that he has been canned by the Cubs.
For their part, the Chicago Cubs were incredibly apologetic for firing Renteria, sending him on his way with both an offer to remain with the team and also a glowing letter of recommendation. What the Cubs says Renteria did best was coach up the young players for the next guy — a backhanded comments, even if accidental.
That’s what the Twins are all about though, as they don’t go big budget Hollywood to win games, they stick with the Gus Van Zant’s and Kevin Smith’s of the world to help them win gritty. Ron Gardenhire’s replacement has not yet been named, with Paul Molitor and Doug Mientkiewicz being the two names likely to fill the role.
Renteria is an unforeseen wild card though that the Twins may go in on.
