Texans’ Jadeveon Clowney Likely Out This Weekend
The Houston Texans first overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft has only been on the field twice this season, and may not start his third game on Sunday.
The Houston Texans had the number one overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. With Matt Schaub being given the heave-ho, a glaring hole was left at the quarterback position. Instead, the Texans paired pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney with their star, J.J. Watt. So far he’s played in two games this season, and it doesn’t look like Sunday will be the third.

Following a return last week after suffering a torn meniscus earlier in the season, another issue looks to be preventing Clowney from chasing after opposing quarterbacks this weekend.
According to Tania Ganguli of ESPN, chances Clowney is back don’t look promising:
His knee appears fine at the moment, which is a good thing, but apparently Clowney is sick to the point that the Texans don’t believe he will be at full strength on Sunday, leaving him a liability on the field. At this point, Jadeveon Clowney has yet to be ruled out, but is being called a game time decision and will be evaluated further on Saturday.
The Texans will be taking on the Eagles on Sunday, and Clowney would be a nice asset to have on the field against the fast paced Philadelphia attack. Unfortunately for the talented rookie, he’s spent far more time off of the field this season for the Texans than he has on it.
While a sickness is nothing you can control, the unfortunate reality is that this is yet another setback in the development of an athletically gifted young player.
Look for Jadeveon Clowney to push himself to get on the field for Sunday’s contest, but ultimately the decision is in the Texans hands.
