Abdullah was diagnosed with a mild MCL sprain but the good news is that Abdullah is not likely to miss any games as a result of the injury.
Head coach Bo Pelini said on the broadcast of the game against the Boilermakers that they would be cautious with the nation’s leading rusher entering Saturday’s game, but thinks he’ll be fine.
Abdullah entered the game with 1,249 yards to lead the nation after he had his fourth game with more than 200 rushing yards last week to make another statement for his Heisman candidacy and also has 17 touchdowns but left today’s game with one total yard on six carries.
Nebraska is off next week so Abdullah will have time to heal his knee with the hope that he will return in top shape for the Big Ten west showdown against the Wisconsin Badgers and their All-American candidate at running back, Melvin Gordon.
