The lawsuit against Florida State Defensive End Chris Casher was dropped this week, alleviating one of the worries for the university.

On October 1st of this year, a civil suit was filed against Florida State Seminoles defensive end Chris Casher that alleged he failed to compensate attorney Adam Ellis for services rendered. Ellis claims he provided representation for Casher in a student code of ethics violation levied by the University to the tune of $2,500.

Florida State would go on to neither expel nor dismiss Casher from the football program, however, he was placed on a one year probation. Not bad, Eliis. Not bad. The only problem here is he states wasn’t given monies owed to him as agreed upon by Casher and his family for that job well done. This past July, Ellis made multiple attempts to reconcile the issue including a letter to Casher directly which featured the following excerpt:

"“Morris Parnell & Ellis provided legal services as agreed and represented you at the hearing,” Ellis wrote to Casher initially as reported by NBC Sports. “The hearing was a success and you were not suspended or expelled from school, and you will be permitted to continue playing on the football team.”"

With an impending hearing scheduled to take place on November 4th, it appears that Casher has made full restitution to Ellis prompting the civil suit to be dropped. It’s a good thing, too. I’m not sure this Florida State football program can take many more off-the-field trangressions. The program has seemingly been constantly under fire since the Jameis Winston sexual assault case.

At this point, even the little off-the-field victories are worth celebrating.
