“Strength. Sammie has it. And I have it.”
Those are the words of 12-year-old Auburn fan Kenzie Ray. ESPN ran a touching feature this morning about the friendship between Ray, who has been an Auburn fan her whole life, and star wide receiver Sammie Coates.
Yes, Tom Rinaldi did the story. You know what that means and I know that means.
What I found most amazing about this video is that Ray and Coates both say that they are best friends. The thing is, you can tell by how happy Coates is to discuss the friendship that he’s not just saying that for a TV segment. It seems to me that he really means it.
In the video, Ray’s mother says that this is not just about the young girl with cancer and the football player. All in all, it’s a pretty incredible story. You can check out the ESPN video below:
If you’re crying, it’s OK. Tom Rinaldi got you again, but you certainly are not the only one.
Coates and the Auburn Tigers are staring down a big game on Saturday night against the Ole Miss Rebels. You know that Kenzie will be dialed in on that game and cheering for the Tigers.
