The Ole Miss Rebels were defeated at home on Saturday night by the Auburn Tigers, which will surely knock them out of the top four in the College Football Playoff Rankings.

This past Tuesday we were treated to the release of the first ever College Football Playoff rankings. Once they were released, the first thing that everyone noticed was that the No. 3 Auburn Tigers and the No. 4 Ole Miss Rebels would essentially be playing an elimination game on Saturday night.
Well the two SEC powerhouses went at one another on Saturday night in Oxford, and it was everything that we could have asked for and more. But when it was all said and done, the Tigers walked away with the 35-31 win, meaning that the Rebels surely will not be in the top four when the new rankings are released later this week.
So with that being said, who will be taking their place? Well let’s have a look at who the new No. 4 team will potentially be when the new College Football Playoff rankings are released.
For the Sugar Bowl match up on Jan. 1 which pits the No. 2 and No. 3 teams against one another, all should remain the same there and we will get a rematch of last year’s national championship game between the Florida State Seminoles and the Auburn Tigers.
FSU had a close one against Louisville on Thursday night, having to come from 21 down, but they are still unbeaten and won’t be shied away from that No. 2 spot.
And as for the Rose Bowl match up on Jan. 1, which will pit the top team in the country against the No. 4 team in the rankings, you could look for the Oregon Ducks to be taking the place of Ole Miss after their dominating win over Stanford, being paired up against the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
