The 30-year-old center has been with the Ducks since June, when he was traded by the Tampa Bay Lightning for two 2015 NHL Entry Draft picks.
His OT goal brought the final score to 2-1 in Anaheim’s favor, and the low goal count was reminiscent of the hard, physical battle fought between the two teams. Although they are in different divisions, both Western Conference teams have been developing a strong rivalry over the past few seasons. The game was fierce and gritty, with both teams favoring rougher play over higher score counts.
The goal, which came off a deflection of a shot taken by Ducks forward Corey Perry, brought the team it’s ninth win of the season.
The game wasn’t a total loss for the Stars, though. It had one of the lowest goals against the franchise has seen this season, indicating that the team’s less-than-stellar defense throughout October could be on an upward trend as the season progresses.
