Jimmy Butler Confident He Will Re-Sign With Chicago Bulls
By Josh Hill
Jimmy Butler didn’t play in the Chicago Bulls 114-108 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, and he also didn’t get his new contract he was hoping to receive.
The Chicago Bulls have a loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on their minds but they also have the contract situation of Jimmy Butler to worry about as well. Just as they lost Omer Asik to restricted free agency in 2012, the Chicago Bulls run the risk of losing Jimmy Butler to a team willing to overpay for him.

Or, perhaps pay the right price, depending on his play this year.
According to K.C. Johnson from the Chicago Tribune, Jimmy Butler remains confident that he’ll work something out with the Bulls this summer and return to the team in 2015-16.
His comments were made before the extension deadline passed at midnight, as a deal was never done in time for Butler to get what he wanted. It didn’t appear as though he would get what he wants though as reports indicated Butler as asking for as much as $15 million per season while the Bulls were only offering roughly $11 million.
They seem to be far apart on price, but the only thing that can change that is Butler’s play this season. He can either play himself into a $15 million contact or prove that the Bulls were right on offering a lower salary.
Either way. it’s a situation that Bulls fans are going to watch closely, as losing Butler in free agency could be the lynchpin that triggers an explosion in Chicago.
