This week, the Texas A&M Aggies announced they
would be benching quarterback Kenny Hill in favor of true freshman Kyle Allen
.
The face that Allen is starting isn’t a surprise. He was the No. 1 rated quarterback in 2015 and enrolled early, participating in spring practice. Head coach Kevin Sumlin said the two were neck-and-neck during fall camp and he went with Kenny Hill because of experience.
Kenny Hill set the world on fire early. He lit up the South Carolina Gamecocks in a 52-28 win in the season-opener (511 yards, three touchdowns) and quickly became a Heisman Trophy contender. Texas A&M sat at 5-0, ranked sixth in the country and viewed themselves a legitimate National Title contender. Since then, it has been all down hill. The Aggies have lost three in a row, which is presumably why Kyle Allen is starting Saturday’s game against the Louisiana Monroe Warhawks.
However, that might not be the only reason.
On Saturday, Texas A&M announced Kenny Hill has been suspended for a violation of team rules.
Looks like Kyle Allen will be the A&M starter for more than today. Kenny Hill suspended for 2 games due to a violation of team rules.

Kenny Hill will also miss next week’s game against the third-ranked Auburn Tigers.
It makes you wonder if Texas A&M made the switch because of the trouble Kenny Hill got into or if they simply wanted to make the switch. It was like a combination of those factors.
This season, Kenny Hill has completed 214-of-321 passes for 2,649 yards with 23 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Kyle Allen has completed 23-of-38 passes for 264 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions.
