Kyrie Irving has never played on a playoff team in the NBA, so forgive him if he’s not used to intense regular season games, like last night’s Cleveland Cavaliers–Chicago Bulls matchup.
Up until about July, the Cavs had been really bad for all of point guard Kyrie Irving’s short career, and Irving, despite having an all-star game MVP in his mantle, has never played a playoff game in the NBA, because the Cavs have never been good enough to make it.

Those fortunes seemed to change when LeBron James returned to Cleveland, and with Kevin Love and others in the fold, it seems to be a good bet that Irving’s drought will end this season.
But, Irving still hasn’t had that experience, or anything even close, while he’s been in Cleveland, so forgive him for being excited to play for a team that suddenly has a target on its back.
During last night’s Cavs win over the Bulls, video was recorded of Irving discussing the Chicago crowd with a teammate:
No, Kyrie, playoff games, particularly if they’re a game between the two perceived juggernauts of the Eastern Conference, the Cavs and Bulls, are way more intense than an early-season game, but maybe you could consider this a warmup for the real thing?
Still, it’s cool to see an NBA superstar in a less-guarded moment. It’s easy to forget just how young Irving is, as he won’t be 23 until the end of March, and how much more he has to experience in the game of basketball. It’s fun to watch.
