Maryland’s athletic director issued a statement on the football team’s captains refusing to shake the Penn State captains’ hands.

Before the game between the Maryland Terrapins and Penn State Nittany Lions, the captains met at midfield for the coin toss. This is a routine part of every college football game on Saturdays, but this one was a little bit different.
The Maryland captains refused to shake the Penn State captains’ hands when they extended them. That led Maryland athletic director Kevin Anderson to address the situation and apologize on behalf of the school and team.
