It’s been a tumultuous week already for the Michigan Wolverines, topped off with the recent resignation of athletic director Dave Brandon, and the news got a little worse for this program on Saturday. Just moments before they’re set to take on Indiana, Michigan announced that tight end Jake Butt has been suspended.
According to College Football Talk, the reasoning behind the punishment is that Butt violated “team standards.”
"Shortly before the kickoff off their game against Indiana, the Wolverines announced that Jake Butt has been suspended for today’s Big Ten contest. The reason given wasn’t the standard “violation of team rules;” rather, it was for “violation of team standards.”"
Butt already missed two games earlier this season as he recovered from an ACL injury and now he will be missing at least one more here on Saturday.
The tight end has caught 10 passes on the season for 114 yards. Not a huge threat in the passing game by any means, but for a team in the shape that Michigan is right now, they can’t really afford to be missing anyone on either side of the ball.
