The New Orleans Pelicans are banking on the health of several players who were injured for a last part of last season including point guard Jrue Holiday, shooting guard Eric Gordon and power forward Ryan Anderson and one big addition to get to the postseason this year. That addition is former

Houston Rockets

‘ center Omer Asik.

With Omer Asik now starting at center alongside Anthony Davis, Ryan Anderson may be expendable.

“The best thing for both parties may be to trade Anderson and get a couple of good pieces in return, which can strengthen the Pelicans’ depth,” writes Mary Stevens of Basketball Insiders. “Right now, the Pelicans have a huge drop off after their first six players, so moving Anderson for several pieces could help the team at multiple positions.”

“Several teams around the league are in search of a big man that can shoot and Anderson will be a hot commodity if he is put out on the market. He is now healthy, playing well and not showing signs of rust.”

In fact, Ryan Anderson was excellent in the Pelicans’ 101-84 season-opening victory over the Orlando Magic. Anderson broke open a close game with three triples and finished with 22 points and nine rebounds.

Ryan Anderson is the stretch four many teams covet and he is a very good and underrated rebounder as well.

Ryan Anderson averaged 19.8 points and 6.5 rebounds per game while shooting 43.8% from the field, 40.9% from beyond the arc and 95.2% from the free throw line. In his career, he’s averaged 12.3 points and 5.6 rebounds while shooting 42.7% from the field, 38.6% from the free throw line and 85.9% from the charity stripe.
