Steve Spurrier and the South Carolina Gamecocks will try to get their season back on track at home against the Tennessee Volunteers this week. Considering the lofty expectations for South Carolina this season, it seems unfathomable that they are now 4-4 on the season and find themselves well outside of the top 25 or any measure of relevance.
It looks like the Gamecocks will take the field for this conference game with a blackout in mind. They will wear their all-black uniforms in this game, though with their usual white helmets.
The all-black uniforms can be hit or miss depending on the team and the design. In this case, South Carolina is doing it right. These are sharp and clean looking, with the same piping and design as their usual uniforms. Plus, they happen to have team colors that jive well with black, which is not something every team can say when they attempt a blackout.
They will be wearing cool uniforms, now South Carolina just has to find a way to get things right on the field. A showdown with a 3-5 Tennessee team might be just what they need to do so.
