Romo was taken from the field and evaluated by the team’s medical staff. He eventually returned to the field to finish out the game.

Despite his ability to return to the game on Monday Night Football, Romo has reportedly been diagnosed with two transverse process fractures.

But what is a transverse process fracture?

From SW.org:

"A fracture of a transverse processis a break of a part of one of the bones in the spine. This part extends out from the side of the main body of the bone (called the vertebral body). A transverse process is shaped like a wing. They extend from both the left and right sides of the vertebral body."

Romo will be a game-time decision on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals.

Earlier this year, Baylor Bears quarterback Bryce Petty had the same injury and he was forced to miss one game.

For Romo, a decision on playing will likely come down to how he is able to tolerate the pain.

"If the injury is limited to a break of a transverse process with no other bone or organ injury, hospital care may not be necessary. Medication for pain control, special back bracing, and limitations in activity are done first followed by physical therapy later."

We will have to see how Romo will be able to deal with the injury and whether he will be forced to miss any action.
