Dallas Cowboys rookie defensive back Tyler Patmon returned an interception for a touchdown in the first quarter

When you are an undrafted rookie in the NFL, that means your opportunities sometimes to make big plays are very limited. For Dallas Cowboys rookie defensive back Tyler Patmon, he took advantage of a rare opportunity for him and made the most of it.

On the Arizona Cardinals first drive of the game, Patmon picked off Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer and returned the ball 58-yards for a touchdown.  It was just his ninth defensive snap of the season. It put the Cowboys up 7-0 early and was the Cowboys only touchdown until late in the fourth quarter in the Cowboys 28-17 loss.  Patmon couldn’t believe it happened as he explained to The Dallas Morning News.

“It almost like it wasn’t real when I was running with the ball,” he explained.

What Patmon did realize though at the end was that it was very real as he did a little skip jump as he entered the end zone. The play happened so quick and so early it seemed like it would be the start of a magical day for the Cowb0ys.

After that though, there were few big plays on defense for the Cowboys as Palmer settled down and threw three touchdowns. Patmon’s interception was the only mistake Palmer made all day.

Patmon himself was pretty quiet the rest of the day with only one tackle. However to Cardinals fans the pick was very real and if he is still with the Cowboys the next time they play, the Cardinals should remember him well.
