The Dallas Cowboys chose to rest quarterback Tony Romo today and the offense clearly misses him.

Going into today’s contest against the Arizona Cardinals, Dallas Cowboys‘ quarterback Tony Romo was questionable to play with what was originally listed as a back contusion. As the weekend progressed, news was released Romo actually had two fractures of the transverse process. I’d say that’s a bit more than a contusion.

Apparently, the coaching staff of the Cowboys agrees and chose to sit the franchise quarterback and go with backup Brandon Weeden. The hope was that Weeden, who was brought in for situations such as these, could highly effective in helping to win this game. Run the ball and let that set up Weeden’s passes, right? Well, not so far.

The Cowboys didn’t even complete a pass to a wide receiver until the third quarter. The running game has struggled minus a few nice run plays by MVP candidate DeMarco Murray. The offense has simply been in complete disarray. Wide receiver Dez Bryant has yet to catch a pass and it now appears Weeden is forcing the ball to him. Tragedy awaits.

No need to wait, it occurred. Weeden stared down tight end Jason Witten and was intercepted in the red zone which pretty much gave up at least three points on a possible field goal. Many who were willing to sacrifice this game for Romo’s rest are now irate that they’re losing. Can’t have it both ways, folks. And unfortunately, the Cowboys are finding this out now.

There’s still plenty of time to go and the Cowboys are only down 14-10. Let’s see if they can remember they’re also a contender as we come down to the fourth quarter.
