Despite losing Nick Foles early, the Eagles were still able to get a big win on the road Sunday afternoon over the Houston Texans.
The Philadelphia Eagles lost their starting quarterback Nick Foles early on Sunday against the Houston Texans, but they were still able to get the win on the road in Reliant Stadium, 31-21.
With the game knotted up at seven in the second quarter, Foles went down and was taken to the back with what was eventually found to be a clavicle injury.
That meant that backup Mark Sanchez would get his chance to run an offense once again, and as soon as he entered the game, he made his presence felt with a TD strike to rookie Jordan Matthews to give the Eagles a 14-7 lead.
Sanchez would finish the game 15-of-22 for 202 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions, with the second scoring strike going to Maclin.
If most of the reports about Foles are true, Sanchez will be under center for the Eagles going forward this year.
The Eagles never trailed in this one, although the Texans did manage to cut the lead to 24-21 early in the fourth quarter when Ryan Fitzpatrick found DeAndre Hopkins for a seven-yard touchdown strike. But the Eagles were able to answer right back and take the commanding 31-21 lead, which they would keep, when Sanchez found Jeremy Maclin for the score.
With the win, the Eagles now move to 6-2 on the season and will take on the Panthers next Monday night, while the Texans fell to 4-5 on the season and will take on the Browns on Nov. 16.
