Jadeveon Clowney has struggled to stay on the field in his rookie season in the NFL, and that is reportedly a growing source of frustration within the Houston Texans organization.

There were a number of people who questoned Jadeveon Clowney’s work ethic in the time leading up to the 2014 NFL draft. There was no question that Clowney’s generational raw talent made him worthy of the no. 1 overall selection, but some truly believed that his lack of work ethic and maturity meant that the Houston Texans should have looked elsewhere with the pick.

Clowney still has a long career ahead of him, and the sample thus far is certainly too small to validate any of those criticisms of his character. So far he has missed time with a knee injury, and now he is going to miss week 9 with an illness. Who is to say that this shows what kind of resiliency he will show as an NFL player or not?

It seems reasonable to say we need to give this more time, but reports indicate that the Houston Texans are already running out of patience with Clowney. Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reports the following:

Granted, those inside the organization might have a better idea about Clowney’s maturity than outside observers. It should be interesting to see how the rest of his rookie season goes for Clowney and if these reports continue.
