Geno Smith may have been rushed into the starting job, but the New York Jets aren’t wasting time with him on the bench and may get him back in after the bye week.
When the New York Jets started Geno Smith, many people pegged it as a mistake but a head coach trying to save his job. So far, everything about the move has been an epic disaster in the most Jets way possible and naturally the team wants to dive head first into that cesspool of suck as soon as possible.

After benching Geno in favor of Michael Vick — who has been just as bad — the Jets are thinking about going back to Geno Smith as soon as after their bye week after Week 11. This means that Vick would play today against the Kansas City Chiefs and next week against the Pittsburgh Steelers before handing things back over to Geno.
Rapoport also mentions that it’s possible Geno Smith could return, but likely won’t this week for the Jets.
Theoretically, the Jets could hand things back over to Geno Smith with a 1-9 record. What this could mean is that the Jest could play out the rest of the season with Geno, clean house by firing Rex Ryan and his staff and then use what could end up being the No. 1 pick in the draft on Marcus Mariota or another quarterback.
Of course, the Jets could turn their season around and finish 10-6, but let’s not go making crazy things up.
