NFL: Top 5 MVP Candidates Heading Into Week 9
By Evan Massey
2. Peyton Manning, Quarterback, Denver Broncos
As usual around this time of year, Peyton Manning is one of the names that is at the top of the MVP list. He has had a huge year with the Denver Broncos once again, and has officially taken over as the NFL’s passing touchdown record holder. Denver has come to expect excellent from Manning, and his age hasn’t seemed to catch up to him just yet.
Manning has thrown for 2,134 yards, 22 touchdowns, and just three interceptions on the season so far in seven games. Those numbers are impressive to say the least, and and he has a good chance to win yet another MVP award. Denver will continue throwing the football at a high rate, and Manning will continue being his normal excellent self.
That being said, he has finally been seeing his weapons play up to their potential. Demaryius Thomas got off to a bit of a slow start, but he is beginning to pick it up again over the past few weeks. If he continues playing at a high level and the rest of the targets play to their full potential, Manning could see his stats improve quickly.
