New England Patriots (+3) over Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos are the best team in the NFL. With that on the table, it may seem crazy to go against them, but this is kind of the perfect storm.

New England is playing incredibly well, and that comes in the form of lights-out performances from Tom Brady. However, this game is forecasted for wins that hover around 40 (!) miles per hour, and given that Denver is almost fully predicated on the passing game while the Patriots are at least capable of running the ball effectively, that likely benefits the Pats.

More than that, though, the field goal’s worth of points could be enormous here, and that is the real impetus behind this pick. At “pick ’em”, I would have passed on this one entirely, but giving the current edition of New England points at home seems like an aggressive notion, and they appear to be the play here.
