Embattled NFL running back Adrian Peterson could have a plea agreement in place this week according to reports.
Adrian Peterson’s future with the Minnesota Vikings and in the NFL generally is still very much in doubt as he deals with child abuse allegations. Where he will stand at the end of this season and entering next season is cloudy at best, and that likely will not change for a while.

One thing is certain: Peterson’s legal situation has to be resolved before anything else can be figured out. Once the legal side of things is done for Peterson, then the Vikings can decide what to do, the league can decide on any further action, and so on.
On that front, an important step could take place during the upcoming week. According to Adam Schefter:
Adrian Peterson and his reps have been in ongoing talks to reach a plea agreement that could be done as early as Tuesday, per sources.

It seems all but certain that we have seen the last of Peterson this season, but a potential plea agreement could shed some light on his future in the NFL and how things will stack up for him in 2015 and beyond.
Both for PR reasons and for financial reasons, Peterson likely will not be back in Minnesota in 2015. But he certainly could catch on elsewhere, pending the outcome of his legal process. And perhaps his time in Minnesota is not done. It is difficult to know for sure, but this plea agreement is a key development if it comes to be this week.
