According to reports, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo informed the team on Saturday night to say he would be unable to play against the Arizona Cardinals.
On Saturday, it was reported that Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo had two transverse process fractures in his back.
Whether Tony Romo would be able to play on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals was all going to come down to pain tolerance, but being known for his toughness, the Cowboys were expecting Romo to come to AT&T Stadium on Sunday to fight for the opportunity to take the field.

That didn’t happen.
Instead, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Romo informed the team on Saturday night that he would be unable to play.
#Cowboys coaches expected Tony Romo to show up and talk his way in. But Romo made the call last night that he couldn’t play today, I’m told.

Earlier this season in college football, Baylor Bears quarterback Bryce Petty had the same injury. He ultimately missed one game.
With the Cowboys sitting at 6-2 entering November, it was likely a smart call for Romo to worry about his long-term health instead. It is more crucial for the signal-caller to be healthy for the final stretch of the season.
Without Romo in the starting lineup, the Cowboys will take the field with former first-round pick Brandon Weeden as the starter.
