Dallas Cowboys fans are still bitter over the loss on Monday Night, but the losses could keep coming with Tony Romo ruled out for Week 9 against Arizona.

When Tony Romo injured his back on Monday Night, there was hope that he’d not only return to that game but also that he’d play this week against the Arizona Cardinals.

Half of that ended up being true but none of it should have happened. Instead of Romo coming back and leading the Cowboys to an overtime win against Washington, his back was so banged up that he lost that game and won’t even be a factor in Week 9 against the Cardinals.

After suffering 2 fractured transverse process in his back, Tony Romo has been ruled out for the Cowboys game this afternoon against the Cardinals. That’s what the report from Dallas reporter Desmond Purnell is anyways, as he indicates the quarterback will not play in Week 9 thanks to his injury.

Ian Rapoport from NFL Network follows up but doesn’t confirm the report, adding that Brandon Weeden will be the man under center for the Cowboys this afternoon against the Arizona Cardinals.

Nothing will be official until the Cowboys deactivate Romo, and that won’t happen until 90 minutes before kickoff. It was executed though that he might miss this Sunday’s action with his injury as the chances were growing slim on Saturday that he’d be ready to go on Sunday. If Romo is indeed out, the Cowboys hopes of breaking a losing skid would be in the hands of Brandon Weeden — which is solid news for the Cardinals.
