facebooktwitterreddit

Week 9 is just about in the books, and there were some great performances. Unfortunately for these players and their owners,  these players didn’t turn in their best this week leading to them making our list of fantasy football week 9 busts.

Here is a quick rundown of the biggest letdowns of the week:

Quarterback

More from Fantasy Football

Philip Rivers-San Diego Chargers: Rivers threw three interceptions and no touchdowns while struggling to just 138 yards.  The Dolphins pass defense was dominant as they crushed San Diego and killed Rivers fantasy week.

Nick Foles-Philadelphia Eagles: Foles left early with a shoulder injury but did ok before he departed.  He connected on 10 of his 13 passes for 124 yards, a touchdown, and an interception.  He let his owners down this week, and the injury could cost him the rest of the season.

Cam Newton-Carolina Panthers: On Thursday night, Cam struggled to just 151 yards passing with no touchdowns and one interception.  He did run for a touchdown as part of his 43-yard on the ground, but it still was a disappointing night for the Panthers QB.

Colin Kaepernick-San Francisco 49ers: Kap only threw for 237 yards and a touchdown while running for 14 yards. He lost a pair of fumbles including one at the goal line as he was going in for the potential game-winning score. He destroyed the Rams earlier this season, but couldn’t get anything going on this day.

Russell Wilson-Seattle Seahawks: Wilson didn’t get into the end zone at all on Sunday with no touchdowns on his 179 yards passing and 31 yards rushing.

Ben Tate-Cleveland Browns: Tate did have 29 yards receiving on his four catches but only totaled three yards on his ten carries.  Terrance West had 15 carries and could have passed Tate for work going forward.

Branden Oliver-San Diego Chargers: Oliver had a huge week his first start of the season but has disappointed in recent weeks.  This week he only had 19 yards on 13 carries while catching a pass for seven yards.

Chris Ivory-New York Jets: Ivory only got eight carries against the Chiefs and finished with just 22 yards.

Lorenzo Taliaferro-Baltimore Ravens: Taliaferro didn’t follow up last week’s big game although he did remain the main complementary back to Justin Forsett.  On seven carries, Taliaferro had just 21 yards while adding 34 more yards on three catches.

Wide Receiver

Dez Bryant-Dallas Cowboys: Dez struggled without Romo although he did find the end zone to keep it from being a total wash.  He was targeted ten times but only had two catches for 15 yards.

Andre Johnson-Houston Texans: Johnson had only two catches against the Eagles finishing with just 12 yards even in what looked like a favorable matchup.

Kelvin Benjamin-Carolina Panthers: Benjamin was targeted ten times on Thursday Night Football, but he only managed 18 yards on two catches.

Michael Floyd-Arizona Cardinals: Floyd only had 35 yards on his four catches, but it was an improvement from his bagel from last week.

Pierre Garcon-Washington Redskins: Continuing to struggle since a few big games , Garcon caught just three passes for 15 yards.

Steve Smith Sr.-Baltimore Ravens: Although Smith remains very involved in the Ravens passing attack, he only had 36 yards last night on his five catches.

Andrew Hawkins-Cleveland Browns: Hawkins continues to get tons of targets but not converting them into big games.  He caught just three of the eight passes thrown his way for 34 yards and failed to find the end zone.

Tight End

Antonio Gates-San Diego Chargers: The Chargers team all struggled and Gates was only able to manage 28 yards on three catches.

Zach Ertz-Philadelphia Eagles: Against the Texans, Ertz only had one catch finishing with four yards and only two targets.

Vernon Davis-San Francisco 49ers: Davis only had two catches for 19 yards and doesn’t have a huge role in the 49ers offense at this point due to injuries.

Greg Olsen-Carolina Panthers: Olsen led the Panthers with three catches but only had 30 yards and didn’t get into the end zone.

Heath Miller-Pittsburgh Steelers: Even though he was coming off a huge game last week and the Steelers passing attack stayed in the groove, Miller didn’t turn in a big effort on Sunday Night Football.  He only had one catch for 14 yards and was only targeted twice. Big Ben did throw one touchdown to a tight end, but it went to Matt Spaeth late in the fourth quarter not to Miller.
