New York Giants‘ punter Steve Weatherford showed his strength and his inclination to participate in bizarre stunts when he bench pressed ESPN‘s Rick Reilly.
Punters in the NFL don’t always get a fair shake. One punter will make a pathetic attempt at a tackle or do something otherwise goofy on the football field, and the whole darn group pays for it.

Steve Weatherford of the New York Giants is trying to boost the reputation of the punter position. The veteran punter was given the opportunity to show that he is a true professional athlete. A strong, talented athlete, not just a goofball who punts the football.
Weatherford’s methods for doing so are interesting, however. For one reason or another, Weatherford showcased his strength by bench pressing a sportswriter. In a moment that neither of them will forget anytime soon, Weatherford actually benched Rick Reilly.
Here is the video of Weatherford bench pressing and then dropping Rick Reilly. What still isn’t clear is if Weatherford dropped Reilly on accident because it was awkward to hold him up or if he dropped him intentionally because he is Rick Reilly.
Some people find it hard to take Rick Reilly seriously anymore. When you watch this video, you can see their point, probably.
