Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson could return this season, according to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen.
Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson just might find his way back on the field this season.
ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported Monday that it’s “very possible” Peterson plays again in 2014.

The tides have seemingly turned in recent days for Peterson, who is currently on the commissioner’s exempt list. The running back is in talks to reach a plea deal in his child-abuse case, which could spur a return to the field.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter writes:
"If Peterson were able to reach a plea agreement, then the immediate question would become when he would be allowed to return to work. For this there is no concrete answer, as the case is unprecedented."
"To date, the NFL has shown no willingness to allow Peterson to be removed from the commissioner’s exempt list and to return to work. But if and when Peterson reaches a plea deal, the conversation and the focus on this situation is going to heat up dramatically."
There’s still reason to believe Peterson won’t see the field anytime soon. The NFL could still suspend Peterson even after a plea deal, which one might expect them to do.
But there’s no doubt that Peterson’s situation is much more interesting now than it was a few days ago.
