The New York Jets lost their eighth straight game to fall to 1-8 after losing to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday but Percy Harvin had a great game and Rex Ryan loves him very much

There haven’t been many positives for the New York Jets this season as they are 1-8 after losing their eighth game in a row, the first start for Michael Vick, so all the team’s troubles weren’t all Geno Smith’s fault, just most of them. However, despite the loss, the Jets got a great performance from recently-acquired Percy Harvin.

Harvin and Vick showed chemistry as he got more comfortable in the offense in his second game as a member of the Jets since the surprising trade from the Seattle Seahawks as he finished with season-highs in receptions (11) and yards (129) in the losing effort. He even added 88 return yards and an eight-yard rush that had head coach Rex Ryan raving about his talent on Monday.

“You see an explosive returner and an explosive receiver,” Ryan said, via the New York Daily News. “Let’s face it,the guy is an outstanding talent and that is why we are excited to see him.”

Vick echoed the sentiments from Ryan and called Harvin a difference-maker who needs to get the ball more to help out the rest of the guys on offense like Eric Decker who had nine catches for 63 yards and a touchdown.

“It’s just good to see Percy get rolling,” Vick said. … “We’ve got to continue to find ways to get him the ball. I think getting Percy the ball in that type of way opens it up for the rest of the guys in the offense.”

Unfortunately for Ryan there may not be many more opportunities to coach Harvin as it would appear he is on his way out as the head coach for this Jets team desperately in need of a change from the top down and likely gets axed for the team’s failure to develop Smith.
