The New York Jets are in shambles, and it looks like the team is going to clean house at the end of the season — a move some believe they should have made after 2013.

When the New York Jets were looking for a new general manager, the team couldn’t seem to lure in a solid option. They decided to stick with John Idzik, especially after the success of the Seattle Seahawks team he helped build through the draft. But since then it seems the narrative has changed in New York and the Jets don’t know what they’re doing.

Bart Scott, who played for the Jets recently, pointed out what seemed to be the obvious. If the Jets wanted to find direction, they should have fired Rex Ryan last season.

According to former NFL front office executive and current analyst Amy Trask, Bart Scott says the reason no one wanted the general manager job with the New York Jets was because they knew they would be inheriting Rex Ryan.

There was a lot of confusion as to why Rex Ryan was brought back by the New York Jets despite his atrocious season in 2013. The gamble was that Ryan would feel the heat and sort things out in 2014, but the result of that has been one win in nine tries. The mantra that building through the draft was the direction went out the window when Percy Harvin was acquired.

New York is lost, they have no idea what they’re doing and that’s really only their own fault.
