In reaching his plea deal, Peterson will now avoid trial and will look to be reinstated to the Vikings. Earlier today, the NFL told Pro Football Talk they would not have a set timeline for their decision in regards to letting Peterson back on the Vikings.
As far as the Vikings are concerned, the team would welcome Peterson back with open arms. Despite not being around the team, he has remained in contact and has continued to stay in football shape.
Thus far, Peterson has not been suspended but instead placed on the Commissioner’s Exempt List, while continuing to be paid. He has missed eight games for the Vikings and could seek to forfeit game checks to count his games missed as a suspension and be immediately reinstated.
Early Tuesday morning, the NFL Player’s Association said they would work alongside Adrian Peterson to argue in his favor of returning to the field. For the Vikings, a 4-5 record awaits them as they come out of the bye week and head to Chicago in week 11.
Peterson would be an immediate boost back into the lineup and would most definitely take some pressure off of rookie quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.
