Carolina Hurricanes went winless in October, but are now undefeated in November

Is this a prank? This has to be a prank.

Teams go on hot and cold streaks, but this is ridiculous.

The Carolina Hurricanes had the most abysmal record in the league in October, going completely winless and only picking up two points off of two overtime losses. Even the Buffalo Sabres managed to pick up a couple of wins, and they’ve been so off that they only managed to get ten shots on the Toronto Maple Leafs last week.

Once November 1st hit, though, it was like Carolina was an entirely new team- even though the only major difference was the addition of Eric Staal, who had been on injured reserve since the start of the season.

The franchise went into the second month of the 2014-2015 NHL season stronger than anyone else, picking up a 3-0 shutout over the Arizona Coyotes on November 1st, a 3-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings on November 2nd, and finally a 4-2 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets on November 4th.

What??

The Coyotes and the Blue Jackets make sense- the Arizona franchise has been one of the shakiest to start out the season, and Columbus is missing over a third of their starting roster to injuries. Los Angeles, though, came as more of a surprise.

Either Carolina seriously wanted someone to win a bet, or there are some mysterious higher powers at work. There’s absolutely no other explanation.

#Connorlina, indeed. Hmph.
