When LeBron James left the

Miami Heat

to return to the

Cleveland Cavaliers

, all of the speculation turned to Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant, who can become a free agent in 2016. Many believe he will entertain the thought of leaving the Thunder to play for his hometown

Washington Wizards

.

However, Durant says he has not thought about free agency.

“I really haven’t thought about that, to be honest. I hear it a lot. But I think I can make an impact on the community I grew up from anywhere. So I think I’m doing a good job of that in Oklahoma. My friends, my family, the kids in my neighborhood, are seeing that. I’m inspiring them from Oklahoma City. I really haven’t thought about it. I love where I am.”

However, Zach Lowe of Grantland believes the Wizards are squarely in the mix and Durant could be the next start to “come home.”

According to Marc Stein of ESPN.com, the Rockets plan to pursue Durant in 2016 as well. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard this. In fact, the Rockets reportedly plan to use Durant’s former teammate, guard James Harden, to recruit him to Houston.

Although the most likely scenario is Durant remaining with the Thunder, a Rockets team with a big three of Durant, Harden and center Dwight Howard could be downright scary.

In his career, Durant has averaged 27.4 points, 6.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.3 assists per game while shooting 47.9% from the field, 37.7% from three and 88.2% from the field.
