Rumors of coach Jim Harbaugh’s job uncertainty has swirled around the San Francisco 49ers all year, and according to Sports Illustrated, Jerry Rice was interviewed by Pro Football Now, wherein he detailed some of the problems affecting the team. The main issue is that Rice doesn’t think Harbaugh will be back with the team next year.

"“I think he’s gone,” Rice said”"

Rice further said that he doesn’t think Harbaugh wants to come back to the team in 2015, and that this lack of commitment and uncertainty could be starting to take a toll on the team and their play.

Rice was then asked about the alleged friction between Harbaugh and GM Trent Baalke. He said the team might say they’re not affected by the uncertainty, but Rice believes it’s difficult not to be affected by uncertainty around the head coach and GM.

"“There’s a lot going on with that organization right now and I think it’s starting to hurt the players down there in the locker room,” Rice said."

The San Francisco 49ers are coming off a last-second loss to the St. Louis Rams, putting them at a disappointing 4-4. They prepare to face the New Orleans Saints in New Orleans this Sunday. Should they lose that game, they would sink below .500. The first time since 2008 that a team coached by Jim Harbaugh fell below .500 past the midway point of the season.

That last team was Stanford at 5-7.
