It looks like the Los Angeles Dodgers have found themselves a new general manager as Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports Farhan Zaidi will be named GM of the team later this week.

This is just one of many personnel changes the Dodgers have made in the last month as the organization named Andrew Friedman, formerly of the Tampa Bay Rays, to President of Basketball operations. They also promoted Ned Colletti, the former general manager since 2006, to a senior adviser position.

A day before Gurnick revealed Los Angeles was Zaidi’s next destination, Ken Rosenthal reported the Dodgers and Zaidi were in talks about the position.

Last season was Zaidi’s first year as Assistant General Manager for the Oakland Athletics after spending the previous five years as the teams Director of Baseball Operations. Zaidi spent ten years with the organization before moving on to Los Angeles.

Age 37, Zaidi owns a Bachelor’s degree in Economics as well as a Ph.D in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley.

Zaidi will be inheriting a solid Dodgers team as this past season, the Los Angeles finished as National League West champions for the second year in a row with a record of 94-86 before falling 4-0 to the St. Louis Cardinals in Division Series.
