Nebraska running back Ameer Abdullah’s MCL sprain is not considered serious and he is expected to return against Wisconsin
Nebraska running back and Heisman trophy candidate Ameer Abdullah led the nation in rushing with 1,249 yards coming into last Saturday’s game against the Purdue Boilermakers, but the back suffered a knee injury that took him out of the game, scaring the Cornhusker nation. It was deemed just a mild MCL sprain and Ameer Abdullah will get some much needed rest in the bye week before the Huskers head to to Wisconsin.

Nebraska head coach Bo Pellini said the star running back’s injury was not very serious after eh tried to recover a fumbled snap on Purdue’s one yard line, adding later that he was optimistic he would be ready for Wisconsin per the Omaha World Herald.
“We’re very optimistic,” Pelini said. Asked if Abdullah would be ready to play at Wisconsin on Nov. 15, Pelini said, “I’m optimistic. I can’t say for sure.”
Nebraska is one of the least talked about one-loss teams in college football right now at 8-1 with their lone loss coming to Michigan State and no true impressive wins. They will have a tough test that could decide their Big Ten fate Nov. 15 against the 6-2 Wisconsin Badgers, who also have a star running back in Melvin Gordon.
Ameer Abdullah returned for his senior year and has made a splash in the stats category that continues to boost his draft stock. Abdullah is fifth in the nation with 1,250 rushing yards and 17 rushing touchdowns. We’ll see if he’s ready to return in one of the biggest games of the year for Nebraska in two weeks.
