After 9 weeks of  football, it’s time to start to eliminate the pretenders from the NFL contenders

Through nine weeks of the NFL season, it’s time to start picking who’s for real and who’s faking it with the first Contenders and Pretenders of the season.

As the season goes on, we’ll be able to pick a few more teams off every week, and soon enough, only a few true contenders will remain in the NFL.

Of course, every team that makes the playoffs has a chance to win the Super Bowl. In recent history, we’ve seen wild card teams all the way through the first-overall seeds make it to the Super Bowl. Anyone in the playoffs can win the whole thing; that’s how it is every season.

With that said, not all playoff team has a realistic chance of making the Super Bowl or winning the Super Bowl. Sure, anyone CAN win Super Bowl, but that doesn’t mean everyone has a realistic shot at it. See the difference?

As the season goes on, it’s important to realize some of the pretenders right now can improve their stock to contenders as they make progress or other teams start to fall off.

For example, imagine if Peyton Manning and Tom Brady got hurt next week. God forbid, that doesn’t happen, but that would open up a whole new realm of possible teams to take the AFC. The list can easily change, but it’s not that likely.

Let’s get to the Contenders and Pretenders through Week 9.
