Oregon improved its 2015 recruiting class with the addition of four-star lineman Canton Kaumatule, who chose the Ducks over the likes of Oklahoma, Arkansas and Cal.
Size matters, which is why the University of Oregon has to feel happy after gaining the verbal commitment of two-way lineman Canton Kaumatule, a 6’7, 290-pounder from Honolulu. Kaumatule became the 15th player to commit to Oregon and the sixth four-star player to do so.

Kaumatule is ranked 31st overall in 247sports.com’s top 247 players in the class of 2015. He is projected to play defensive end, although he has the size and build to also play on the offensive line. He is also rated as the best player in the state of Hawaii.
The Ducks’ latest recruit made his decision on Friday night and began the process of enrolling at Oregon during halftime of the Ducks’ win over Stanford on Saturday. Kaumatule is expected to be on campus in January, shortly after participating in the Under Armour game.
“It was definitely not the plan to commit,” Kaumatule said. “I was going to take all of my officials and try to make my decision after that. But right when I landed I knew that wasn’t going to happen. The weather was great, the scenery on the flight in was amazing and just the people. Everyone was super cool and I just felt welcome. I loved the vibe.”
Kaumatule did say he would still take other visits between now and January. Oregon beat out the likes of Oklahoma, Arkansas and Cal for the right to have Kaumatule on their field for the next 3-5 years.
