The Philadelphia Eagles may part ways with quarterback Nick Foles as the organization isn’t as high on him as they seemed to be.

When Nick Foles suffered a broken collarbone in the first quarter of the Eagles win over the Houston Texans last Sunday and was replaced by Mark Sanchez, he may have played his last game with the team. Sanchez went on to have a good game, passing for 202 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions, and may have played Foles out of Philly.

According to Chris Wesseling of NFL.com, that performance could be just enough to convince the Eagles to let go of Foles.

The Eagles were already uncertain of whether Foles was the franchise quarterback or not before the injury, but the recovery time for a broken collarbone is six to eight weeks, and that might be just enough to show Philly they don’t need Foles.  Drafted under Andy Reid, Foles has been met with resistance it seems at every turn. Chip Kelly came in, drafted Matt Barkley and signed Mark Sanchez in free agency.

Those aren’t the actions of a coach invested in his starter.

Despite the Eagles first place position in the NFC East, Foles has been largely outplayed by opposing quarterbacks all season. The Eagles hardly missed a beat with Sanchez at the helm and, in fact, his mobility actually helps the Eagles offensive attack move even faster.

Even if Sanchez somehow regresses to the quarterback the New York Jets jettisoned, it’s no guarantee that Foles will get his starting job back when he returns from injury.
